| Inverness Place is
located among the rolling hills of central Citrus County along Florida's west
central coast. It is approximately 70 miles north of Tampa and 65 miles northwest
of Orlando and is easily reached by Interstate 75 and the Florida Turnpike.
Inverness Place offers guests the opportunity to relax on the front porch or
under the stately camphor trees. Sit back, relax, and watch the cardinals as they splash

Heritage and Museums. If history is your thing, there are several fine places in Citrus County that will offer a glimpse of the past. In downtown Inverness the Old Citrus County Court House (pictured) restoration project is almost completed, while nearly the Crystal River Archaeological Site, De Soto Trail, and Yulee Sugar Mill ruins provide evidence of Florida's past. If more recent history is to your liking, the Ted Williams Museum contains some wonderful baseball memorabilia and history. | |||||
| Fishing and Boating. Outstanding is the term most people use to describe the fishing in Citrus County. Freshwater fish such as bass, speckled perch, trout or catfish can be found on the Lake Tsala Apopka Chain or Lake Rousseau. Bicycling. Inverness and Citrus County are a cycler's delight. The Withlacoochee State Trail (part of the Florida Rails to Trails Program), a fifty-mile paved hiking and cycling path, passes through Inverness. This trail meanders through the beautiful Citrus County countryside where riders can observe a variety of local lakes, forest and wildlife. Bicycle and roller blade rentals are available at the trail site in Inverness. | |||||
| Canoeing and River Kayaking. Citrus County's numerous rivers and lakes provide ample opportunities for canoeing and river kayaking. The Withlacoochee River offers an 83-mile canoe trail, and other rivers such as the Hamosassa, Chassahowitzka and Rainbow provide scenic places to paddle. | Scuba Diving and Snorkeling. The caves, grottos, springs and rivers of the nature coast offer numerous opportunities for Scuba diving or snorkeling. King's Spring, Rainbow Springs, and the Crystal River are some of the more popular local diving/snorkeling spots.
